That's a great idea. What did he call that, an iteration bearing? |

Actually it's the inner part ( I think he called it 'race') of a snowmobile bearing. Any bearing should do, roller type that is. He smashed the outer part to break the bearing apart, but an angle grinder could quickly separate the two parts. Bet your friendly auto fixer has lots of used bearings. Great idea! Both sides at the same time, I like it!! I might grind that shape in an old drills shaft. |

Looks like an accident waiting to happen. A better idea would be to clamp the bearing in the vise...Mike |

+ 1 on the clamp in vice for safety. Any ball bearing would do but a large one would be easier to clamp in the vice. Fred |

What Fred said... Ball bearing, not roller bearing. Cool idea! |

Looks like the cross section radius of the ball path would effect the shape of the burr by taking it a little past 90 degrees to the scrapers edge. Also, the diameter of the bearing might influence how hard the scraper must be pressed against the bearing. Just thinking about what's happening during the process--not trying to complicate it. Great idea! |

Yeah, I meant ball bearing, not roller bearing. Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 4 Beta |
